Cancer

The silent killer
Lurking
Cancer
Outright devastating

A trail by fire
It’s aggressive
Going for the jugular
Prey wants to live

Forty year old Maria
Pregnant with twins
Routine visit to doctor
Given news grim

Because of family’s history
doctor was good student
Hers were hereditary
and unfortunately malignant

Maria’s tears choked
Her screams bruised ears
Doctor said Sorry; no hope
